thoughts about things…
My “Crazy” Diet
It all started about four years ago with the offer of more drugs…from my doctor. Thankfully it was followed by “I know that’s probably not what you want but it’s an option.”
When you do things differently people either love it or think you are crazy (or a little of both).
I was recently looking back at my notes on Find Your Why and while this was looked at in the view of business, it’s also applicable to other areas of your life with massive changes.
The Power of Community
The purpose of a Fierce Support Squad is not to provide a sanctuary for those wallowing in pity. It is not to hear that there is nothing they can do.
It is to provide a sacred space for those prepared to shift their mindset, smash through self-imposed barriers, and achieve things that make them feel great.
Together, we cultivate a culture of accountability that sets our souls on fire. I want you to refuse to settle for less than your potential.
Stop the Mindset Spin Cycle
You might be wondering if this feeling will ever end.
Will the spin cycle ever stop?
If you’ve ever struggled with mental health, even a little, you know that it can feel oppressive and hopeless. I’ve had a day, a week or so, and months of struggle over the years.
Maintaining Like a Mother…
I’ve been maintaining this thing called life for a while. Why?
The easy answer is “Because I’m good at it.”
Most women are. From a young age maintaining is a goal we are taught to aim at. Especially those that have parents pushing their sweet young children into the American Dream that sometimes feels like a nightmare.
Lessons in Failure
I hope you take the time to set goals that properly reflect your true desires…not the same old basic ones everyone sets because they “are supposed to.” If you want to know how to do that, I’ll hook you up!
Christmas Unlike the Griswold’s
So many of us go into the Holidays with a dream, a goal, and a desired outcome but we don’t have a plan to achieve our goals. Read more to learn how to have a less stressful holiday season.
Enjoy Life Before You Retire
Living inauthentically robs us of our time and leaves us with regret.
There is probably nothing worse than knowing any breath could be your last. In theory, that goes for any of us but at 47 it’s not something you think about like you might at 97.
Pattoning Something New!
For 2 years I have split myself. It hasn’t been serving me from the beginning.
There was something in the back of my mind telling me I was working on goals and schedules that were not sustainable. I just had to get in the right groove, the right mindset, the right *insert next catchy buzz word here.I told that voice it was underestimating me and to sit back and quietly watch me do the impossible. When inside I was fighting against the current with all I had.
Time to make some big decisions?
Feel like you are in crisis mode with an overwhelming feeling of hopelessness? Knowing this isn’t the direction you need to be going but also have no clue where to go. Or what direction to take. Here are three tips to help you.
Are you a creature of habit or healing?
Are you a creature of habit or healing?
When you are out of sorts, what do you need- nourishment or comfort?
Nourishment provides comfort. When you are in an altered state of being (grief, sadness, stressed out, etc.), you want comfort. You want your comfy clothes, a pile of greasy fries or mashed potatoes with mac-n-cheese, and mind-numbing TV shows. What you need though is nourishment.
Why the Words You Use and the Habits You Choose Are Important
We are about to head into the holiday season so we are going to need a little extra help to be prepared and protect our health- mentally and physically. Do you know you could be hindering your progress without even knowing it??
If you are like me, you just said- “WHAT? Me? Getting in my own way? How could that be? I am the one that has the dream and wants to accomplish it so there’s no way that I would get in my own way.”
5 Ways to Live a Passionate Life
When faced with a crisis in life, we stop to think about and question our lives.
Are we doing things that matter to us?
Are we happy with this life we have built?
When we die, how will we be remembered?
What the hell are we doing???
How to know you are living a life that you are passionate about.
What is love?
Merriam Webster has many definitions for this popular “L” word. The one that is most closely associated with the majority of the “acceptable societal view” is the definition of love as a strong affection for another- to hold dear.
Almost all of the definitions refer to this feeling about another person or to be on the receiving end of this feeling from another. I wonder why there is not a definition that includes affection for oneself.
Resolutions are as Futile as Using Silly String in Your Tennis Shoes
Resolutions are not made in my house. This is the third or fourth year that I will not be making resolutions. They were never kept so why spend so much time and energy preparing for ONE specific day of the year to say “I’m going to do ALL these things starting tomorrow” then in a few weeks be stressed out and burnt out trying to overhaul your life. So this year, just like last year, I’m banning resolutions in the Patton household.
